Welcome! to CSB349H1S, Eukaryotic Gene Expression at the University of Toronto. The content of this course covers genome organization and evolution, gene expression, regulation, and differentiation. CSB349H1S is offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The course is composed of a lecture component providing a framework of background information, and a tutorial component emphasizing reading and analyses of primary literature.

The emphasis in this course is on self-directed learning and critical thinking: the "process" of science will be stressed more than the content or the discipline. All students should be able to use the library resources by the end of the course. In addition, students will need to become proficient at interpreting data from original papers, writing analyses of data and designing at least simple experiments.
